What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
Ha! Just foolin’ with you. You know I’m going to tell you all about my trip and all of the amazing folks I met. Here goes…..
Every year thousands of photographers come together for WPPI, Wedding & Portrait Photographers International. Some of the coolest kids in the wedding industry head to Vegas to learn new things related to their craft, and have lots of fun while doing it.
I know some of you are thinking, “Christopher, you aren’t a photographer.” And you would be correct. But if so many of the cool kids are in one place for a huge kick A** event, you better believe I’m going to be smack in the middle of it, and boy was I ever.
The pinnacle of my WPPI experience was the Airhorn and Laser’s party hosted by Lara Casey + Our Labor of Love. It was more fun than I can spit out in words! I danced the night away with beautiful ladies Stacie Francombe, Arden Ward and shut then after-party down with the super fabulous Jill Le Fleur. It is said, a picture is worth a thousand words – - so I give you a small recap from the night.
*and how the crazy long Smilebooth session that Sandi and I went through didn’t make it to any of the recap photos, I’ll never know. But go HERE to view all of the Smilebooth photos by Our Labor of Love. Jess + Whit, you rock.
On a more serious note – Through the weekend I had the privilege to meet and connect with some of the most talented, fun and fabulous people in my industry.
Jose Villa, Joel Serrato, Jill LaFleur, The Wedding Chicks, The Broke Ass Bride, Jory Cordy, Fred Egan.. to name a few, and there were so many more. And as always, it was great to spend some quality time with good buddies Lara Casey, Jeff Holt and Sandi Sansom. Lara & Jeff hosted a Making Things Happen Workshop while we were there, and just like all the others, I know it fired some folks up.
So what relevance does this post have to my life? (other than Airhorn’s really was one hell of a party)
When I first heard Jeff’s story at the workshop about his trip to WPPI – - how it may not be the best time in our lives to sacrifice the time and money to take a trip to Vegas… but how that sacrifice benefited and changed his life by putting himself out there to people and establishing real authentic connections.
I knew I had to go.
From that one weekend, I made several life long authentic friendships that continually add value and bless my life tremendously. I connected with folks like Jory Cordy and Jesse Ryan, on levels of faith and life that I would have never experienced if I hadn’t have made the sacrifice to go. I faced the fear, and did it anyway. (and jory, i did not post your napping on the sofa tummy photo, thank me later.) I also adored spending so much time with Sandi, who we pretended to be brother and sister – I thought it was totally believable.
To wrap all this up, WPPI was another experience that is leading me to the place I know Christopher Confero is going. It was great to connect with other folks who now know me and believe in what I’m doing.
Until next time!
Best!
